Lesson 3.1: For each of the listed criteria, we there are possible ways in order to find out if an apprentice belongs to some of to any of them after the interview.

  • For people with disabilities and health problem, usually the medical record is one if the main things you can ask for.
  • For people with barriers linked to education and training or economical barriers it is important to put the emphasis in the reasons they want to work with you, about their previous job/internships/volunteering positions they had. Depending on their answers, you can see the background.
  • For people with social barriers and the barriers linked to discrimination, when taking the interview with them, let them talk about the personal desires, fears or needs. In this way, they would express regarding this issue, if any.
  • For people with cultural and / or geographical barriers, it’s better to start the conversation about the culture of the organization / institution and let them continue with their own culture, beliefs systems or personal beliefs. By doing so, you could start seeing if there are any barriers in this way.
