This module focuses on supporting company mentors working with apprentices with fewer opportunities or experiencing some form of disadvantage. It guides on how to develop and deliver effective induction programmes tailored to apprentices’ specific needs.

Through this module, company mentors will learn how to create positive work environment, understand the role of the management staff and in-company mentors during the induction phase and will have better appreciation of how to develop an apprentice induction and information pack.

Lesson 4.1: How to create a positive work environment

You will learn what positive environment looks like and define key aspects to be taken into consideration when planning an inclusive apprenticeship. Also, you will learn various methods and techniques and effectively plan tasks to create positive work environment for your apprentices by also analysing aspects that might negatively affect their experience while in the company.

Lesson 4.2: What is the role of management staff and in-company mentors during the induction phase

You will understand the different roles and responsibilities within a company hosting apprentices, with regards apprentices’ orientation and planning of the in-company training.

Lesson 4.3: How to develop an apprentice induction and information pack

You will learn how to develop effective information and induction programs for apprentices with fewer opportunities or from disadvantaged backgrounds through being introduced to a selection of templates and examples.
